CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND PRICES
SWING INTRO - First Time Swing Dancers
The
first step to finding your swing dancing feet! These classes are about
having a good time, meeting new people and just getting into the swing
of things. Classes cover basic Charleston and 6-beat dances like
jitterbug, with occasional detours into solo dancing and jazz movement.
No need to book and no partner required - just walk through the door and we'll get you dancing!
Swing Intro classes at North Adelaide and Norwood are $12 per class, and Adelaide Hills Swing Intro classes are $15 per class(Adelaide
Hills prices are determined by arrangement with local students to cover
travel costs for teachers). For Lindy Lounge Intro class, see admission
price. LINDY 101 - Beginner Lindy Hop
Welcome
to the most amazing dance in the world! The jewel of the golden age of
jazz and the biggest partnered dance in the world today. All the spins
and slides that drew you into Swing are now yours to own.
Lindy
Hop uses 8 count rhythms and fancy footwork styling to bring out the
most in every song. This is ground zero - learn the dance sensation
that has been sweeping the globe since the 1930s.
Lindy
101 classes are $14 per class or $70 for a 6 week block (includes
ticket to the Swing Sesh Graduation Dance for that block)LINDY 2 - Beginner/Intermediate Lindy Hop
It's
time to see how deep the rabbit hole goes! These classes focus on
teaching classic 8-count Lindy Hop patterns and look more closely at
technique and how we lead and follow. You'll also learn to combine
Charleston, 6- and 8-beat patterns together, and deepen your
understanding of swing rhythm and dance. Lindy 101 is a prerequisite
for this course.

SWING EXTENSIONS - Advanced
You
are comfortable dancing Lindy Hop and you are coming out social
dancing...it is time to take your dancing a step further. There is a
big world of musicality, move vocab and sweet styling out there and now
is the time to explore it in these wonderful classes designed to create
well-rounded swing dancers.
These classes are designed to build
on your foundations, improve your lead/follow technique, have your
dancing become an extension of the music and pick up all those fancy
tricks as well. Learn to really 'connect' with your partner on the
dance floor and make them shine. Lindy 2 is a prerequisite for this
class.
Swing Extensions is our highest level class and covers
advanced material. How do you know if your Lindy Hop is ready for Swing
Extension classes?
You...
*create your dances around the music you hear and the movements your body has mastered
*can incorporate Lindy Hop and Charleston patterns into your dancing seamlessly through a range of tempos
*have experienced dancing at major national events and taken private lessons to improve your technique
*have a sound knowledge of solo (vernacular) jazz movement
