FAQ

Where can I learn to dance?

Our venues are located around the Adelaide metro area in North Adelaide and Norwood. We also teach free Swing Intro taster classes at SkyCity Casino's Balcony Bar, and at our regular social dance The Lindy Lounge once a fortnight. Check out Class pages to find detailed maps, class times and prices!

What classes do you offer?

We offer four class levels in weekly classes around Adelaide:

Swing Intro - Beginner swing dance (Jitterbug, East Coast swing, Charleston, etc.)

Lindy 101 - Beginner Lindy Hop

Lindy 2 - Intermediate Lindy Hop

Swing Extensions - Advanced Lindy Hop and associated dances

We also offer private lessons by appointment.

How much do classes cost?

Swing Intro - $12 per class (drop-in class - no need to book!)

Lindy 101, Lindy 2 and Swing Extensions - $14 per class, or $70 for a six week block (includes ticket to the Swing Sesh Graduation Dance at the end of that block)

Take Swing Intro and Lindy 101 on the same night at pay just $20 for two great classes!

Repeat Lindy 101 or Lindy 2 and get $20 off your class block!

I don't have a partner. Can I still come to classes?

Of course! We encourage people to bring a partner, but you certainly don't have to. We rotate partners throughout all our classes so no-one is left standing on the sidelines - and you get the chance to meet a whole bunch of great new people (which is really what social dancing is all about!). That said, if you feel more comfortable dancing with your own partner you're welcome to stay out of the rotation and just dance with each other.

What should I wear to classes?

Comfortable, casual clothing and flat shoes (we recommend sneakers or leather-soled shoes).

I've missed the first week of Lindy 101. Can I still start in Week 2?

Yes you can! We allow students to join our Lindy 101 Courses in Weeks 1 and 2, however you are unable to begin the course from Week 3 onwards. If you join in Week 2 it will make it a little harder but we do revise what we did the week before at the start of the class so you won’t be completely lost.

I've learned other dance styles. Can I skip your beginner classes?

Sorry, no. As dance professionals ourselves we strongly believe in learning a new dance from its foundation. Every dance is uniquely different and never more so than in the foundation and basic structure of the dance. We also teach basic “moves” like the Swing Out that are a requirement for moving into Lindy 2 - without these you’re unable to attend our Intermediate class.

Why is Swing Extensions by invitation only?

Swing Extensions is our top level class, designed to give our most experienced students a chance to develop their dancing with advanced concepts and techniques in a challenging, inspiring environment. Entry into Swing Extensions is by invitation for two reasons: to allow for an even lead-follow ratio, and to ensure our advanced dancers are given the best possible chance to hone their skills in a forum of their peers. For more information on level prerequisites for this course, please see our Classes page.
